ABOUT IBPS BANK PO

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a Common Written Examination (CWE) as a pre-requisite for selection of Probationary Officers on behalf of 19 nationalized banks. The exam is generally conducted twice a year. However it must be noted that IBPS is only the body conducting the written test. The vacancies in individual banks as well as the group discussion and personal interview process are managed by each participating bank separately.

Banks inducts eligible graduates by this exam for training for a probation period of two years. Different banks recruit probationary officers during different period in the year. Students have to keep on watch about the notifications and should be alert on applying promptly

A PO can be asked to do anything till the completion of probation period. After the confirmation i.e. after two years he/she can be given the task of anyone or two or more tasks from routine work like posting, passing, scrolling or advances or anything that is related to banking.

ELIGIBILITY

(a) Age-limit: 21 - 30 Years
The maximum age limit specified is applicable to General Category candidates. Relaxation of upper age limit for reserved categories - as per rules.

(b) Educational Qualification: A  degree  in  any  discipline  from  a recognized University  or  any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

(c) Selection Procedure: The selection will be made on the basis of performance in the Written Test and Interview. The written test comprises of 2 sections: Objective and Descriptive type.

EXAM PATTERN

Pattern of the IBPS Bank PO CWE : The written test consists of Objective Paper and Descriptive Paper
 Objective Paper: 250, Duration: 150 Minutes; Maximum Marks: 225
Descriptive Paper (Essay, Precis, Letter Writing etc): Duration - 60 Minutes; Maximum Marks: 25

Negative Marking: There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Test.For each wrong answer one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty to arrive at corrected score

 The Descriptive Papers of only those candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in each of the objective tests will be evaluated.
